PETER OBI’S HUMANITARIAN VISITS AND GOV. ALIA’S COMPROMISE

Just less than three weeks ago, March 29, 2025, Peter Obi paid a visit to the fire-ravaged section of the Electronics Market at Modebe, Onitsha, Anambra state to sympathise with affected business men and their families who watched in disillusionment as their source of livelihood went away owing to lack of sufficient fire service response. Peter Obi sent a message of hopeful solidarity to the weeping crowd, and made donations to the market association showing deep kindness, infectious compassion and outstanding service to the God of all humanity : And that, my brother, is the fundamental terminus ad quem of Okwute’s pulchritudinous humanitarianism.

Peter Obi is not just a billionaire business man, far richer than young money-moguls such as Obi Cubana and Zenco, Chief-Priest and Jowizaza, who prefer to show to the world that the Igbos are kind to one another in a rather unnecessary exhibitionism : Peter Obi is a humanitarian per excellence. Every Nigerian should be proud of him including you. He does what past and present senators, governors, presidents and ambassadors can't ever do.

On 11 January 2024 Mr Peter Obi, with a voice soft and sweet, presented a cheque for N75 million to Immaculate Heart of Mary Specialist Hospital, Nkpor, Anambra State, to help them improve their humanitarian services

Peter Obi has been actively involved in humanitarian efforts across Nigeria and beyond. A humanitarian journey he began from home in Anambra State, parts of the New East and across the developing world.

On 3rd January 2025 he visited Dele Farotimi in Lagos State for his stand against judicial impunity. On December 3, 2024 Peter Obi visited Afe Babalola in Ekiti State, to request that his case against Dele Farotimi be dropped, on humanitarian grounds. A visit that made the release of Dele Farotimi possible early this year.

All his visits are not based on pseudo-tribal consciousness, but purely on humanitarian grounds. You have to get this education to emancipate yourself from your present intellectual prison.

Remember, he won the presidential election in Lagos and Abuja, the most cosmopolitan centers of Nigeria. Stop seeing him as just an Igbo politician who must visit Ebonyi state twice in a year before visiting other states such as Benue and Plateau who are also crucial parts of humanity.

Remember, Mallam Nasir El Eufai recently claimed that Peter Obi won the 2023 presidential elections. I can tell you for free that his stolen victory was because of his people-centric agenda encapsulated in boldness and sagacity, which we witnessed firsthand during his 8 years in office in Anambra State where he clamped down on waste, showmanship and political corruption, while rebuilding healthcare and education services for the poor masses, pushing Anambra to the zenith of academic excellence in secondary education, for example.

There are more than 20 notable locations Peter Obi has visited for humanitarian purposes, including the Ebonyi State Nursing School : Where he donated  ₦10 million to support the institution and its students. He must not visit Ebonyi State every time there’s an attack there: Is he the governor, senator or legislator of that region?

Peter Obi visited Bokkos, April 2025, in Plateau State where he donated ₦7.5 million to displaced children affected by violence and supported education and clean water initiatives. Where has Atiku Abubakar visited? Where have your senators visited? Where have your role models visited? Have you called them out, before calling Peter Obi out for not visiting Ebonyi State first? Peter Obi also visited  IDP camps in Plateau on February 4, 2025 to support them and share a message of humanitarian hope to them. Isn’t that enough?

Peter Obi visited Southern Kaduna IDP camps in February 2025 providing relief materials and advocating for peace when senators in those areas cannot come together and design a housing project that will remove IDP camps. Peter Obi's visit is pure humanitarian leadership.

Peter Obi visited Nasarawa State where he extended aid to displaced families in IDP camps in February 2025.

Peter Obi visited Haiti in 2010 to provide support after the devastating earthquake. This shows Peter Obi as a humanitarian. Leaders who have humanitarian leadership programs make nations great. He also visited Indonesia to cultivate a better understanding of recent humanitarian impact of their purpose-driven leadership.

His visits are humanitarian visits not tribal agenda where he must visit his geopolitical region. Throughout his tenure as governor (2006–2014) and beyond, Peter Obi frequently visited schools, hospitals, and communities to provide aid and support. Peter Obi's contributions to education and healthcare in Anambra are well-known.

Peter Obi's visit to Enugu State was popular as he donated to educational institutions and healthcare facilities.

Peter Obi visited Lagos State where he supported orphanages and educational initiatives.

Peter Obi has visited Abuja, FCT where he provided aid to displaced persons and supported healthcare projects.

Peter Obi has visited Onitsha, Anambra state and Owerri, Imo State were he supported hospitals and educational institutions.

Peter Obi  has visited Sokoto and Kano State where he provided relief materials to flood victims and people displaced by bandits.

Peter Obi visited Port Harcourt, Rivers State in the 10 March 2024, on my birthday precisely, to donate N5 million to healthcare facilities and supported local communities.

Peter Obi has visited Yola, Adamawa State where he assisted IDPs affected by insurgency.

Peter Obi visited Maiduguri, Borno State, the epicenter of Boko Haram without fear of being arm-bushed. There he provided relief to victims of insurgency and supported rebuilding efforts.

So, for Governor Hycinth Alia of Benue State to be afraid of Peter Obi’s safety means he has been deeply compromised and as such has become a monumental failure, a puppet of the APC machinery perpetrating violence, ethnic cleansing in the North Central, North East and North West. The Governor’s imbecilic excuse is really regrettable. He has no CCTV across the borders of his state, has no solid vigilante leaders to support the work of the underfunded police and the underpopulated security forces. Yet he has no funds to build new housing for displaced people. Where are his security votes? He has no financial strength to send away those who displaced them as well. Gov. Alia is planning for his second term when he would perhaps fight for his people. Gov. Alia sees Peter Obi’s visit a threat to his vast incompetence. Doesn’t that appear to be glaring?

Peter Obi has visited Calabar, Cross River State where he donated to schools and healthcare projects. The governors of the state welcomed him. They were pleased to associate with his humanitarian work. They offer him security. Are we to believe that the Benue State government can’t release 25 security guards for a mere humanitarian mission? That’s unfortunate.

Peter Obi has visited Asaba, Delta State where he supported local businesses and educational initiatives. The same state that rejected the wife of President Bola Tinubu last month despite her donations. The people can differentiate between compassion and capitalism.

On 29 January 2024, Peter Obi visited Ibadan, Oyo State to commiserate with Gov. Makinde following the explosions that rocked the state. Peter Obi visited with Dele Farotimi, Aisha Yesufu, and Dr Moses Paul. He made donations to the victims, citing the pain of economic loss they are going through and the psychological damage following the Ibadan explosion. You can see that Peter Obi’s visits are purely on humanitarian grounds with associates from different tribes.
