TRANS-NIGER EXPLOSION - IS FUBARA A MILITANT GOVERNOR ?

 TRANS-NIGER EXPLOSION - IS FUBARA A MILITANT GOVERNOR ?

As investigation is currently ongoing into the explosion that rocked some parts of the Trans-Niger Pipeline (TNP), it has become obvious that the Rivers State government and the security agencies in charge of the pipeline have been compromised completely.

Why are militants sympathizing with Sim Fubara?

The explosion that blew up the oil pipeline on Tuesday morning which exports Nigeria’s crude oil to the international market is a news which has led the President of Nigeria, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu to sit with the defense chiefs and the president of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.

The blast struck a section of the pipeline near Bodo-Bonny Road in the state's Gokana Local Government Area, which is currently under construction.

A video report by Channels Television on Facebook highlights the ripple of black smoke bubbling up the already polluted sky.

Channels TV confirms that the Trans-Niger pipeline is a major pipeline transporting crude oil from oil fields in Rivers and Bayelsa states to the Bonny crude oil export terminal, a key route for exporting Nigerian crude oil to the international market.

This event is happening a week after the Ijaw National Congress threatened to shut down crude oil exploration in Nigeria’s Delta region if Mr Fubara is impeached.

While it is not certain that this attack on Nigeria’s national pipeline asset is not due to the feud between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, the FCT minister, that it is happening after the Supreme Court asked Sim Fubara to re-present the 2025 budget to the 27 reinstated house members led by Martins Amaehula, it sure indicates the porosity of the security system and the failure of government at the federal level to impose sanctions on Gov. Sim Fubara prior to this moment.

Governor Sim Fubara should denounce the state government’s complicity in the attack on a national asset. Has the era of militancy returned? This is not a huge challenge for Nigeria’s security apparatus to resolve.

DSS should arrest all the criminals who threatened to sabotage Nigeria’s economy because of one man’s wishes.

Once the culprits are caught and neutralized, and security improved, which other card will Gov. Sim Fubara play? Who knows?
