FUBARA’S PIPELINE VANDALISM: IF THE CULPRITS CONFESS FUBARA TO BE THE COMMANDO?

BREAKING NEWS

ACCORDING to reports yet to be confirmed there’s a second explosion at an oil facility in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of the Rivers State.

If Asari Dokubo or Sim Fubara are involved in these series of pipeline vandalism let them face the consequences with immediate effect. Nigeria should not return to the brink of militancy ever again.

Ogoni is yet to be cleaned up after thousands of oil spill and pollution leading to massive environmental damage, death toll and agricultural losses. Anyone engaging in further pipeline vandalism could face death penalty or live imprisonment given the economic and ecological impact of explosion according to the report by Friends of Sustainability and Ecology Association.

Pipeline vandalization is a deliberate damage of oil and gas pipelines. In Nigeria it is a serious issue because it leads  to economic losses, environmental damage, and potential safety hazards.

Any criminal syndicates captured in the crime have always been brutally punished by the government of Nigeria as oil is its major source of revenue and foreign exchange.

Pipeline vandalism is the willful or deliberate act of damaging petroleum pipelines, with the primary goal of stealing crude oil and associated petroleum products or adamant sabotage.

The recent pipeline explosion in the Trans-Niger Pipeline (TNC) axis is a clear sabotage that the government should not be treated with a carrot method. Sir Fubara and Nyesom Wike should be allowed to mess Nigeria up as suggested by Punch Newspaper.

The government of Rivers State just had an efta lunch with Nigeria’s president last week. His inability to protect the state and the national asset is really something to be ashamed of.

In Nigeria, the Petroleum Production and Distribution (Anti-Sabotage) Act and the Miscellaneous Offences Act address pipeline vandalism, with penalties including life imprisonment and potentially the death penalty.

If any person is found guilty of the crime against Nigeria, the indictment could lead to life imprisonment.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

  • Legislation:
    • Petroleum Production and Distribution (Anti-Sabotage) Act: This Act, along with the Miscellaneous Offences Act, is the primary legal framework for combating pipeline vandalism and oil theft in Nigeria.
    • Miscellaneous Offences Act: This Act also addresses pipeline vandalism, with provisions for severe penalties..

There are many harsh consequences of pipeline vandalism such as economic loss due to shutdown and repairs negatively impacting oil production and revenue.

Pipeline vandalism leads to spills and leaks which further contaminate soil, water, and air, causing long-term environmental damage.

Environmental Impact range from pollution, health risks due to exposure to spilled oil and its byproducts posing serious health risks to people living in affected areas.

Social and political impacts could range from tension, assassination of leaders, civil war and the destruction of infrastructure owned by oil companies. This will further spell doom for the Niger Delta and the entire region.

Enforcing laws against pipeline vandalism and ensuring accountability for perpetrators is vital.

The DSS should arrest everyone who has been threatening to vandalize Nigeria’s asset.
