The home of the most performing FCT Minister, Rivers State’s most prominent politician and former governor, Bar. Nyesom Wike has been set ablaze by hoodlums sympathetic to Sim Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, whose destruction of the Rivers State House of Assembly was found to be disgustingly illegal and politically damaging by the Supreme Court.
That the governor could not protect the property of his former boss, on whose structure he was made governor, further shows Fubara Sim as a vessel of evil. This is fear of impeachment. He was made a governor two years ago by his principal whom he now wishes to dethrone by violence. If he wants to be good, let him resign and come back and win election by himself. His arrant hooliganism shouldn’t be tolerated by any well-meaning Nigerian. Since he agreed to be sponsored, let him keep to his agreement with his boss. He ate billions of Naira according to the EFCC case against him; while he was the chief accountant of Rivers State over 500 billion was squandered. Who does he want to deceive? I don’t see him as a saint. He was moved from level 14 to Accountant General. Why can’t he be loyal? Truth is, those who support him are merely terrible at pan-African politicology.
Fighting his boss in such a manner is really symbolic of shamelessness. Politicians in Africa do not only disappoint their sponsors, they also disappoint the masses. Sim Fubara has not fixed pipe borne water infrastructure in any local government, has not produced any agricultural products for exportation, has not fixed free medical care for Ijaw, Ogoni or Igbo LGAs in the state. He has managed to pay salary and build few infrastructure. He is rather busy fighting to displace all his colleagues and mentor. This violence is horrible. He must arrest all the arsonists immediately. That house must be rebuilt.
In Nigeria, both violence and arson are serious crimes, with arson carrying a potential life sentence under Section 443 of the Criminal Code Act. Arson is defined as the willful and unlawful setting fire to buildings, structures, or other property.
Arson is a felony, defined as the willful and unlawful setting fire to any building, structure, vessel, stack of cultivated produce, or mine.
- Punishment: Arson carries a potential life sentence.
- Attempts: Attempting to commit arson is also a felony, punishable by imprisonment for 14 years.
- Motivations: Arson can be motivated by revenge, financial gain, or to destroy evidence. In attempt to fight back for the defeat he met at the Supreme Court, it appears that Fubara wants the state to burn to pieces.
