EXPULSION OF THE UNIZIK IGBO FEMALE STUDENT IS NOT A FAIR JUDGEMENT: FACTCHECK NEEDED

If you are happy about the rustication of Miss Goddy Mbakwe Precious of UniZIk you are not a man of love or joy. You are the true Indaboski Bahose. Nyesom Wike's ideology of 'bury all-massacre-all' in Obigbo just to deal with few IPOB boys, is better than your wounded egotistic view of love, even on lover's day. Where is our love, brethren?

The rustication of Miss Goddy Mbakwe by the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka is rather too Nebuchadnezzesque. You destroy the destiny of a 3rd year student for that altercation provoked by an elderly teacher because it went viral? To stoke your ego, like King Nebuchadnezzar did to the 3 Hebrew boys for not bowing to an idol. The university system should do better. That is why i do not blame most of our girls for being harsh: This is because our society is really harsh to them in many ways you cannot ever think of. Our society mocks prostitutes but never their long list of male clienteles. You are not a good friend of your mother that is why you will not learn this.

UNIZIK and many people who did not like Ms. Mbakwe's actions wanted to pander to the whims and caprices of patriarchal discipline, and it has happened, quite fast. This response is quite harsh and mean. Many men are celebrating the victory. They won't do same when it comes to their daughter or sister or wife. Why are you justifying this kind of judgement?

You, have you faced all the consequences of your own indiscipline? Fact-Check yourself, you are worse than her. Is it because you have never been caught? What is the difference between you and those Jews who wanted to stone Mary Magdalene? Tell me, my brother, tell me.

If the student was not tapped at her back, this fight would not have occurred. If the elder hadn't dragged her phone, the bite would not have happened. That's why a Nigerian man living in Canada, Mr. Isidore pledged N500,000 to any human rights lawyer willing to defend this girl. She failed. She made a huge mistake, but can you not see that your harshness at her is symbolic of your dysfunctional mental state?

I have said it, time without number that the girl acted rudely, harshly, barbarically, disrespectfully. But all that her reaction would not have happened if the lecturer had respected her space and properly excused her as he wanted to pass than tapping her. This is as simple as that. You may disagree with this logic, you may also support the University of Nnamdi Azikiwe, but i believe you are logically famished. One day you too shall grow.

The university is not your home where you can drag phones from a student or even tap a student you are not familiar with. That's unprofessional. That judgement is harsh. That's the alternative view. Deal with it with some maturity.

This undergraduate over-reacted. How old is she? Have you asked why she reacted that way? What's her psychology? Has she reacted that way before? Why this mallet of justice? What about suspension? What about offering her a therapy session?

I want you all who are men and women of good will to always look at issues from two sides so as to have a balanced view at all times.

Today is a day of love. Let us speak with love.

Dear  Sir,

I write as a Nigerian citizen who is concerned with the future of Goddy Mbakwe Precious.

Please, honourable Vice Chancellor and the Senate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, review your judgement, and give this young woman a second chance. I so plead.

Dr Chukwudi Okoye is a gentleman who felt violated. He was really hurt by the action of the girl. He had expected the girl to respond in a friendly and respectful manner when she tapped her at her back. She never expected this outburst. When he demanded for her phone to delete the video recording, he had expected the student to obey and do as she was commanded. He was acting on the power dynamic of lecturer to student. He never expected this incident to go this way.

However, he forgot that people are different. Many young people of this generation have a different orientation. They are being pushed by the society to be independent, self-willed, aware of their rights, their self-worth and their pride. Miss Mbakwe felt that the lecturer had no right to demand for her phone. Is that not a valid reasoning? She felt that the lecturer had no right to tap her back. Is that not a valid thought? She felt that the lecturer had no right to hold her hand. These are legitimate thinking. To bite, tear, push and to demand to be left alone are what she has learnt. They are not completely bad traits in response to such aggravation. Many women have been killed, dragged, silenced by men in our society. Women who could not bite, tear, push themselves to safety. We need stronger women.

In this case, she needs to be disciplined but not totally destroyed. The university should demand that lecturers learn to act towards all peoples within the university community professionally. Many lecturers are involved in examination and mark racketeering. How many have been expelled? Many lecturers have been involved in harassment of our girls. How many have been expelled? Many lecturers have been accused of cultism. How many have been expelled?

This is like the case of a thief who got 20 years in jail for stealing a goat, in a country where a governor was accused of stealing 80.2 billion yet walking free1. Do not join the political class in subjecting the masses and the powerless to extreme judgements.

Please, pardon Miss Goddy Mbakwe Precious. A suspension and a therapy should be better.

Thank you.

Best Regards

Kerygma
